Is Tutoring Only for Students Who Fail?

Absolutely not! CBC (2012) cites a report by the Canadian Council on Learning stating that as many as a third of Canadian parents hired a tutor for their children in 2007. Furthermore, most students who are tutored are already getting As and Bs in the public school system and have parents who help them with homework.

Most of the students who come to S.M.A.R.T. Tutoring and Test Preparation Services are high academic achievers. We assist these self-directed students in identifying what they know and what they need to know to solve a problem.

When students can’t get enough individualized attention in the classroom, S.M.A.R.T. Tutors answer students’ questions, explain concepts, and introduce new strategies to study effectively, remember information, and become successful, confident students.

S.M.A.R.T. Tutoring and Test Preparation Services proudly assists struggling students. Whether they’ve been ill or away and missed a lot of school, we assist typically good students get out of poor academic situations. We also assist students with Specific Learning Disabilities and IEPs.

Where there are problems with the teacher at school we assist in developing the student’s positive self-talk and self-advocacy skills though activity and role play. We provide support to parents when needed and believe in fostering a partnership between parent, student, and institution.
