The interview is the last part of the hiring process to become a Canadian firefighter. A fire-candidate does not receive nor pass a firefighter interview by luck.

Fire recruitment is a full-­time job including developing experience, producing a good resume and cover letter, and most importantly – never losing focus or motivation to continue.

Many firefighters are recruits for 5­ to 10 years before they find employment in the Fire Service.

Be sure to take part in a city’s fire recruitment information seminar to introduce yourself to the members of the fire department that you are applying to and to get the information you need to move forward in the fire recruitment process.
